What is social aesthetic?
Lets start the definition from the aesthetic, its defined as the science of the harmony and legality between art and nature. That means that an aethetician is an instructer of that science and a kind of scientist himself. Connecting that definition now with an definition of what sociology (Science that researches in the field of the origins of the development and structure of the human society) we can reasume that a social aesthetic is a science of harmony and legality beween art and nature of the development and the structure of human coexistance, of something social!
How does Pino Poggi and his works fit into that definition?
Thats quite easy to answer, everything he does is a derivate of a research of human coexistance. The overwhelming majority of his works focusses on him as instructor, author and sometimes regiseur and only with the public his work becomes what it is. He has, like Josef Beuys did it with the social plastik invented the social aesthetic (Manifest AU, 1965) and he continous in exploiting this field, using several methods and tools to express, to visualize his thoughts and concepts. As the books on him show clearly his possibilities are waste. Here its almost impossible to be exhaustive, so this page is meant as an initiation of some dialogue, of some corrispondence that hopefully leads in something social aesthetic in some actions and projects!
